Many companies today have networks, which are complex and contain all the data on not just their business, but on their customers as well. To ensure the safety of that data many companies are now implementing more stringent pre-employment screenings to make sure the integrity of their network and the data on it stays out of the eyes of those who might abuse it for their personal gain. In the past only those with access to company records needed checked, but now with everything for a business coming off one set of servers it is an essential security check to make sure that those who are on the network are the employees they presented themselves to be in the interview process.
