Recently the governor of New York ordered complete background checks on his entire staff after he discovered that 60% of his employees had not undergone a complete pre-employment screening which would have included any checks on their criminal history, qualifications, and other information. Though not required by a state law the Governor felt these checks were essential to the state to uncover any conflict of interest or other issues, which could affect the state, do to the actions of these employees. If a state is concerned about who is working within their offices maybe other business owners should consider this point as well.
