Most school districts conduct pre-employment screenings on all bus drivers as the time of hire to check driving records, criminal records, and even a drug screening. This is all absolutely essential to keep our children safe in the hands of those who get hundreds of kids to school every year. Of course some districts due to financial reasons or even just a lackadaisical attitude do not continue to conduct these checks on drivers at regular intervals. This can be extremely dangerous for other drivers on the road as well as our children who are on the bus with the driver.
