Many companies who recheck their employees with criminal background checks at set intervals have the dilemma of what to do when a longtime employee suddenly has a criminal record. For some employers it is a clear cut case that the employee must be let go do to the conviction. If it is a case of a DWI for a job based on driving or someone who works with children who receives a child predator conviction; the decision will be apparent. For other less clear cases each employer should have a policy in place before they need it in which there is a written company way of handling these situations so that employees know before hand how things will be handled.
