Criminal Background Checks in Schools
With the safety of thousands of children on the line many school districts are expanding the criminal background checks they run to include more than just the teachers and advisors who are in contact with the student body everyday. Some school districts are starting to look into the criminal backgrounds of volunteers and other adults who have the opportunity to work with the kids even if they are actually on other payrolls such as coaches hired by booster clubs. These potential gaps in coverage in the safety of the students at a school is a cause for concern for some parents who want to ensure that the school environment stays a place for kids to relax with no fear of harm or injury from an adult they trust as a leader.
