Applicant Concerns with Background Checks
There is a misunderstanding with many applicants that the purpose of a pre-employment screening by a potential employer is to see if the company can “dig up any dirt” on the applicant. Employers are actually looking to find the candidate most qualified for the position available within the company. This usually means double-checking an applicant’s employment history as well as their educational achievements. Also a criminal background check is needed to ensure that an applicant does not pose a risk to the company and its other employees and customers. If an applicant is honest on their resume and has no convictions an employee background check is nothing to be worried about in the hiring process.
