Being Upfront with Applicants on Pre-Employment Screenings

If you run pre-employment screenings on all applicants who apply for positions available within your organization you do need to get authorization from the applicant before you run the check. It is best to sit with a potential employee and discuss the background check you will be performing and what exactly you will and will not be looking for. Not all jobs really need a complete background screening, most only need a few things verified for the safety and efficiency of your business. Going over this check prior to conducting, as well as getting a signature approval from the applicant will ensure you do not get accused later on of violating the right to privacy of your potential employee and it puts them at ease on what you will be searching for.
