Parts of a Pre-Employment Screening - Drug Testing
Sadly drugs have become a major part of our society, and considering a pre-employment drug screening is another step potential employers need to consider. For some occupations such as school bus drivers, policemen, and those of authority a drug test is not an option, but mandatory.
A drug screening as part of a pre-employment background check is a helpful tool to get an idea of the ethics of the applicant, gauge potential performance, and to keep worker’s compensation premiums down. This is generally due to the fact workers who take drugs, whether prescription or illegal, tend to be less productive and have higher incidence of accidents at the workplace. Though not necessary for all employers as part of their pre-employment screening, it should be considered as a very informative tool in hiring the right applicant.
