What is a background check?

 

Officially a background check is defined as looking up official and commercial records about a particular individual. In the past a background checks were only done for high-risk jobs such as police officers, bankers, teachers, and those who have a high amount of trust placed in them. With incidence of corporate theft, violence in the workplace, and overall more embellishing on resumes by applicants it is becoming more and more a needed step in the hiring process. Pre-employment screenings are an effective tool to getting the right employee for the position you are hiring for.
